The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry of Defence, has announced a recruitment drive inviting applications from retired government employees for engagement as Consultants at the DRDO Young Scientist Lab for Artificial Intelligence (DYSL-AI), located in Bengaluru. - Contract Duration: Initially for one year, extendable as per norms.
- Pay Level: Level 7 as per the 7th CPC, with a fixed monthly remuneration of Rs. 30,000/-.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Experience: Retired employees from Central Government, State Government, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, and Universities, with considerable experience in relevant fields.
- Preference: Candidates with prior experience in DRDO will be given preference.
- Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Service Record: Applicants should have an unblemished service record.
- Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 63 years as of the application closing date.
- Gap Requirement: A gap of 15 days must exist between retirement and application.
Application Procedure:
- Applications must be submitted before the deadline, and will undergo preliminary scrutiny by a local committee.
- A Screening Committee will assess the suitability of candidates based on eligibility criteria and Terms of Reference (TOR).
- A merit-wise panel will be formed, valid for six months, for potential appointment.
Terms of Engagement:
- Nature of Appointment: The consultant role is non-official and temporary, focusing on specific tasks without any re-employment benefits.
- Consultant’s Responsibilities: Must perform tasks as per the TOR and must not represent DRDO or disclose any information without prior approval.
- Intellectual Property Rights: All data and deliverables will remain the exclusive property of DRDO.
- Termination Clause: The contract can be terminated with one week’s notice for poor performance or violation of terms.
Remuneration and Allowances:
- Monthly remuneration will be calculated by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at retirement.
- Consultants will not receive allowances such as Dearness Allowance, transport facility, or residential accommodation. However, they are entitled to travel allowances for official work.

- Selected candidates must provide necessary documents, including a police verification certificate and a signed contract agreement.
- The consultant’s working hours will align with the normal office hours, but additional hours may be required based on work exigencies.
