The High Court of Calcutta invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens who have knowledge of the vernacular language of the State for preparing a panel to fill 291 vacancies for Lower Division Assistant positions. The appointments will be initially temporary but are likely to become permanent.

High Court of Calcutta Recruitment 2024 Pay Scale:

  • Level 6 (Rs. 22,700 – Rs. 58,500) with a minimum pay of Rs. 24,100 plus other allowances as per the relevant rules.

High Court of Calcutta Recruitment 2024 Educational Qualification:

  • Passed Higher Secondary Examination (12th standard) from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination from a recognized board/council.
  • Knowledge of the vernacular language of the State.

Age Limit:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 40 years as of January 1, 2024
  • Age relaxation: 5 years for SC and ST candidates from West Bengal. For Persons with Disabilities, the upper age limit is relaxed up to 45 years.

Reservation Details:

  • Meritorious Sportspersons: Must have certificates from respective competent authorities.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Must have a disability certificate issued by a competent authority with a disability of at least 40%.
  • Other Categories: Certificates should be issued by competent authorities as prescribed by the Government of West Bengal.

Mode of Selection:

  • Preliminary Screening Test (Phase-I):
    • Subjects: Arithmetic, General Knowledge, Computer Proficiency, General Intelligence, English.
    • Marks: Total 100 marks (each question carries 1 mark, with negative marking).
    • Cut-off: 50% to qualify for Phase-II.
  • Competitive Written Test (Phase-II):
    • Subjects: Arithmetic, English Essay and Precis Writing, General Knowledge.
    • Marks: Total 300 marks.
    • Qualifying Marks: 40% in each subject and 50% in aggregate.
  • Viva-Voce Test (Phase-III):
    • Marks: 100
    • Marks from Competitive Written Test and Viva-Voce will be considered for the final merit list.

Appointment & Posting:

  • Initially, posts in the Appellate Side will be filled based on merit. After exhausting the Appellate Side posts, the Original Side posts will be filled.

Examination Fees:

  • SC/ST (West Bengal): Rs. 400/-
  • All other categories: Rs. 800/-
  • No fees for Exempted Category and Ex-serviceman candidates whose names are sponsored by the appropriate authority.

Examination Centres:

  • South Bengal: Kolkata, Howrah Sadar, Chinsurah, Bardhaman Sadar, Midnapore Sadar.
  • North Bengal: Siliguri, Jalpaiguri Town.

Admit Card:

  • No admit card will be sent by post. Candidates must download it from the website.
