CAPF Medical Officer eligibility criteria 2024

Candidates must meet specific educational qualifications and age limits for the respective posts.

1. Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command)

  • Qualification:
    • MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized university.
    • Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in the related specialty.
    • Doctorate of Medicine (DM) or Magister Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) with three years of experience in the concerned super-specialty.
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council.

2. Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant)

  • Qualification:
    • MBBS or equivalent degree included in the first or second schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
    • Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in the concerned specialty with:
      • 1.5 years of experience (for PG Degree)
      • 2.5 years of experience (for PG Diploma).
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 40 years.

3. Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant)

  • Qualification:
    • MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
    • Completion of a compulsory rotating internship.
    • Candidates undergoing an internship can apply but must complete it before the appointment.
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council required.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 30 years.

Age Relaxation

The government provides age relaxation for various categories as follows:

CAPF Medical Officer salary and benefits

Conditions of Service

  • Combatised Posts: These medical officer positions are combatised and governed by their respective Acts and Rules.
  • Service Locations: Candidates must be prepared to serve anywhere in India or abroad based on service requirements. Independent work may be required.
  • Mandatory Service Period: A minimum service of 10 years is required. Candidates who resign before completing this period will need to refund three months’ pay or the cost of training, whichever is higher.
  • Probation: The probation period is 2 years, extendable by one year if necessary. The government can discharge candidates without reasons during or after probation.
  • Training: Selected candidates will undergo basic training and other courses as prescribed by the respective force.
  • Private Practice: Engaging in private consultancy or laboratory practice during service is not permitted.
  • Marriage Rules: Candidates who are already married to someone with a living spouse or enter such a marriage are ineligible unless exempted by the government.
