The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final list of recommended candidates for the post of Public Prosecutor in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. The post was advertised under UPSC Advt. No. 07/2023, Vacancy No. 23040705208. The selection process consisted of a combined recruitment test held on December 17, 2023, followed by interviews conducted between September 17, 2024, and September 20, 2024.
Recommendation of 48 Candidates
The UPSC has recommended a total of 48 candidates for appointment to the Public Prosecutor posts. These candidates have successfully passed both the written exam and the interview stages. Their appointment is now awaiting final formalities, and their names are listed in the official annexure released by the Commission.
Pending Results
However, the result of one candidate, bearing Roll No. 1401157, has been withheld due to a pending legal matter. The candidate’s result has been placed in a sealed cover because of an ongoing case in the Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Principal Bench, New Delhi (Original Application No. 3466/2024). The final result for this candidate will depend on the outcome of this case, as well as another ongoing case (OA No. 3575/2024). The UPSC has clarified that the final recommendation for this candidate will only be made after these cases are resolved.
Availability of Marks
For transparency, the UPSC has also announced that the marks of all candidates who appeared for the recruitment process will be uploaded on the Commission’s official website. This will happen after the completion of recruitment for all cases where a combined recruitment test was conducted or within 30 days from the declaration of the final result, whichever is later.
This announcement brings an end to a comprehensive recruitment process that involved rigorous testing and interviews. Candidates who have been recommended will soon proceed to the final appointment stage, pending formal clearances. The case of the one candidate whose result is on hold will be watched closely as it awaits the legal verdict from the Hon’ble CAT.
